POSITION SUMMARY:  Provide direct psychiatric and medication support services to older adults in a team environment. Makes home visit assessments as planned or in crisis situations. Must be available for on-call coverage for medication support and/or crisis situations.  The number of hours for service is established with each individual.  Hourly rate to be established based on experience.  This is a part time, 6 hour per week position.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides direct psychiatric and medication support services
  2. Makes home visits to assess older adults within home environments or other living situations
  3. Works in a team environment and consults with staff on client behavior and performance and provides staff training as required.
  4. Reviews behavioral/medical records for compliance with quality and contract requirements.
  1. Prepares correspondence as appropriate.
  2. Consults with other psychiatrists and physicians regarding client mental and physical status, medication and other factors significant to the individual client’s condition.
  3. Provides on-call support to clinicians, case manager and alternates with other psychiatrist on vacations, illnesses, etc.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1.                  Licensed psychiatric MD

2.         DEA License

2.                  Board certified preferred; Board eligible required with ability to complete certification within the year.

3.                  Gero-psychiatric experience with dual diagnosis and addictive disorders preferred.

5                    Psycho-pharmacological experience.

6                    Bi-lingual skills preferred, e.g. Spanish-English, Mandarin or Vietnamese and English

7                    Cultural competency skills

8                    Active malpractice insurance

9                    Automobile and valid CA license

10                Multiple languages preferred according to part-time availability
