Description and Services:
Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County is leading a campaign to cut poverty in half by the year 2020. Our mission is to create the will to achieve this vision by:
- Increasing awareness and motivating government, religious, business, academic, service providers and community leaders and organizations to sign on to the campaign;
- Building capacity through partnerships;
- Shaping public policy through advocacy;
- Increasing private and public funding;
- Integrating systems to promote ease of access and greater service coordination to prevent and mitigate poverty and its effects.
Key issues include:
- Affordable housing
- Universal Health Care
- Food security
- Access to education
- Asset-building through employment and savings
- Job creation and employment at a living wage
- Immigration reform
- Work supports and safety net services for vulnerable populations.
Eligibility and Requirements: Commitment to poverty prevention, reduction and mitigation.
Fees: There may be a registration fee for an event such as Lobby Day.
Hours and Availability:
- Office Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Program hours: Days, evenings, and weekends, by appointment
